REEL TALK AUDIENCE AWARD  SPRING 2015

1.  WOMAN IN GOLD

2.  ME AND EARL AND THE DYING GIRL

3.  FAR FROM THE MADDING CROWD

4.  24 DAYS

5.  5 TO 7

Every single movie shown in our Spring series received votes from some members of the audience, and most of them received a significant number of votes.  MISERY LOVES COMEDY fared worst with only a handful of votes, and I must admit I agree with the audience on this one!  A few people commented that WOMAN IN GOLD was not technically a part of the Spring series, since it was shown at the Regent Theatre a week before the Spring series actually began.  Therefore I consider both WOMAN IN GOLD and ME AND EARL AND THE DYING GIRL to be co-winners.  In fact, only 5 points separated these two top choices.

Onward to more good movies!  I look forward to seeing everyone in a few weeks when our Summer series begins.

SUMMER REEL TALK runs from June 22 – August 17 at The Landmark. Series passes are on sale either at the Concierge Desk or online. To sign up, visit reeltalk.landmarktheatres.com.  Click on the 7:00 time, then select the number of tickets you want, and choose your seats.

Coming next in our Anniversary Classics series Tuesday, June 9 at 7:00 PM at Laemmle’s Town Center Theatre in Encino, 17200 Ventura Blvd.:  THE SHOP ON MAIN STREET (Czechoslovakia, 1965), Oscar winner for Best Foreign Film and one of the most moving films about the Holocaust ever made.  Guest speakers will include Ivan Passer, a director who was part of the Czech New Wave of the 1960s and who later relocated to Hollywood.
